"PIXELS: THE TRACE OF THE STROKE"

In this exhibition, Iluminada García-Torres presents her Digital Geometric Art series, Ariadne’s Thread – Combinatorics, an exploration of new technological media. The result is an innovative, rigorous, and coherent body of work that reflects the evolution of her artistic journey.
Inspired by her 1984 study at the Prado Museum of the sublime marble sculpture "Sleeping Ariadne", Iluminada García-Torres seeks to harmonize her creative "thread" within the labyrinth of her artistic capacity.
Her mastery of planar and spatial geometry draws from the teachings of fellow Alicante artist Eusebio Sempere. Her dynamic lines—rendered in a single gesture—maintain a proportional relationship with the square compositions, creating rhythmic sequences of mathematics, geometry, time, and light.
These geometries are capable of infinite multiplication through color combinatorics and digital processes, made possible by linking her research with the latest advancements in computer science.
The origins of her Continuous Spatial Tracing date back over a decade to her COMBINABLES series. This exhibition features selections from the Amerigo Collection—a series of one hundred geometric works (digital prints on canvas, 90x180cm each)—which can be viewed in Alicante at the hotel of the same name.
